Tree of a Nation

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Sense of Magic

My basic design component is circles and waves. These are placed in a square composition and forms the frame of the quilt. The quilt creates an intense sense of movement and this is done by the use of colour. Colour is always an intergral part of form itself. The richness of the colour and texture speaks of the Africa I live and work in

Mystic Movies

This is my interpretation of the movies in the years gone by. The colourwaves moves all over the quilts surface. These waves symbolizes the reels of film interwoven in the composition. The small faces is the actors and the framed landscape the set design where these movies were shot. I used embroidery to enhance the colour statement. A 3D concept is built into the quilt overlapping the formal frame

Midnight Visits

This quilt is composed as an landscape. I personalized the quilt whit three embbroided figures which is layered quilting.

Although I am influenced by an European artist, the content of the quilt is African and so is my colours. The quilt awakened an intense sense of color – texture and light and this adds a new dimension to my personal statement. There is an universe within the quilt which symbolize ” a famly portrait”

The Story
I believe we are born is a specific “circle of life”. In life there is challenges (triangles) that came
across and it is for everyone to decide for him/herself to stay in their comfort zones of to move on
to the next circle/level.
You are responsible for your own decisions

Machine quilted, painted, hand embroided,

Elements of Natures Beauty

This quilt portrays nature’s full colourblast on our senses. I try to avoid symmetry especially the stagnant kind. The heart of the season is captured by the colour which is directly taken from nature. The trees, grass and leaves portray movement in my composition.

Within the sky are planets. These are little studies in their own right. The branches of the trees from the linear design in contrast to the roundness of the planets.

The edges of the fabrics are treated differently, some precisely pieced , some left to fray – But always with great thought.

Ecco Waves

The earth is in a desperate state of pollution. This quilt is an exploration to listen to the cries of our county/planet. A fresh wave towards the planet is symbolized in the quilt with five blocks. In the blocks I use embroidery and different techniques to portray the waves.

The “new earth” is done in layered quilting which also symbolizes a new beginning in nature and in thought.

The four framed flowers in the blocks, which grounds the planet is for better things to come. The new planet will be filled with trees, clouds and fresh rivers. This is the only circle in the quilt which has its own living echo system
